Transport security

The term transport security describes the protection of emails against interception by third parties during transport from the sending email server to the receiving email server.

In contrast, End-to-end encryption defines the protection of emails through S/MIME certificates or PGP keys during transmission from the sender to the recipient. Both encryptions can be combined as desired.
