Defining conditions
Each content filter consists of one or more content filter entries. For each of these entries, you define one or more conditions regarding
- file types,
- file names and
- file sizes,
that you want to filter out.
In the conditions you also determine whether the respective content filter entry for files will be applied to files
- inside of archives,
- outside of archives or
- to
both.
- Open a content filter set entry in a content filter entry.
- Under Condition, click Add.
- Configure the options regarding type, name, size and scope.
- Click Save and close.
-
When defining conditions, always preferably use the file type and not the file extension. For example, do not use *.docm, but Word document with macros (2007-2016, DOCM).
-
Use so-called AND links, i.e. the combination of a file type and a file extension. For example, spammers like to use "fake" Office file extensions to hide the real file type, as Office detects the correct file type and opens the document anyway instead of reporting an error. For example, you can block the combination of the file type Word document with macros (2007-2016, DOCM) AND the file extension .doc, as this should not be used in a legitimate context. You can then apply CDR to all other Word documents with macros (2007-2016, DOCM).
